Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation with African Union (A.U.) Commission chairperson Ncosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The MoU aims to bolster cooperation between the two sides in the fields of science and technology as well as energy sector development.
Lavrov arrived in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, earlier Wednesday for a day-long visit.
He held talks upon arrival with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Foreign Minister Tedros Adhanom on means of bolstering economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov's visit aims to enhance ties between both his country and Ethiopia in particular and between Russia and the A.U. in general, Ethiopia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Lavrov came to Ethiopia from Zimbabwe, where he had met with President Robert Mugabe, with whom he signed bilateral investment deals worth some $3 billion.Last Mod: 18 Eylül 2014, 09:58
