S. Sudan accuses rebels of killing 127 people
The South Sudanese government on Wednesday accused rebel forces loyal to sacked vice-president Riek Machar of killing civilians, including hospital patients.

"On December 19, when renegade General Peter Gadet switched sides in Riek's favor, Bor town was looted and many civilians were killed," presidential spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny told reporters from the office of the president in Juba.

"However, in Bor hospital there were 127 patients being hospitalized before the rebellion, unfortunately they were all killed by renegade General Peter Gadet's forces," Ateny read out from a press release.

Bor, the capital of Jonglei State, has been the most affected by fighting since the political violence broke out in the country in mid-December.
