The state of emergency in Tunisia was extended until June, 2013 on Friday.

In a written statement released on Friday, the Tunisian Presidency said that the state of emergency was extended from March 3 until June 3 as political and communal tension continued in the country.

The state of emergency in Tunisia had begun in January 2011 when the former Tunisian leader Zeynelabidin bin Ali left Tunisia for Saudi Arabia.
