Seven people were killed and 10 others injured in a suicide attack that targeted a United Arab Emirates convoy in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, a medical source said.
The source said that “the death toll includes three Somali soldiers as well as the suicide attacker.”
A previous statement by eyewitnesses said that three people were killed in the attack.
According to eyewitnesses, the suicide attacker rammed by his car the UAE officials’ car in central Mogadishu.
The United Arab Emirates provides military support the Somali government which is fighting the al-Qaeda linked al-Shabaab movement.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a website linked to the movement.
The UAE also carries out humanitarian relief projects for internally displaced people in Mogadishu.
