Tunisian naval forces on Wednesday rescued 98 illegal immigrants of different nationalities in the southeastern part of the country.
"Naval forces rescued 98 illegal immigrants coming from Libya aboard two boats before drowning," Monji Selim, head of the Tunisian Red Crescent in the southern city of Madnin, told Anadolu Agency.
He said the immigrants had been trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea into Italy.
There was no comment from the Libyan or Tunisian authorities.
