The Tunisian Presidency has distanced itself from a visit by French-Jewish philosopher and author Bernard-Henri Levy to Tunisia.
"Reports claiming that President Moncef Marzouki has invited Bernard-Henri Levy are categorically false," the presidency said in a statement.
"The president's schedule does not include any meetings with Levy," it added.
Levy, who has critical positions of the Arabs, arrived in Tunisia on Friday for a visit to the North African country. Demonstrators gathered at the airport to protest Levy's arrival, accusing the French author of "condoning terrorism".
"He who stood by the people of Palestine and supported the Gaza Strip will not shake hands with a Zionist who called for foreign intervention in Syria," presidential adviser Anouar Gharbi said.Last Mod: 01 Kasım 2014, 16:40
