The UN Security Council decided on extending the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) until June 15 to help the country to establish a government.
The resolution requested UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to report to the Security Council on the implementation of this resolution at least every 60 days.
UNSMIL is a special political mission established in 2011 by the Security Council in its resolution at the request of the Libyan authorities following six months of armed conflict.
Libya has remained in a state of turmoil since 2011, when a bloody rebellion ended with the fall and death of longtime strongman Muammar Gaddafi.
Since then, the country’s stark political divisions have yielded two rival seats of government, one in Tobruk and one in the capital Tripoli, each of which has its own military capacity and legislative assembly.Güncelleme Tarihi: 16 Mart 2016, 09:40
