A previously-unknown group on Tuesday claimed responsibility for an attack on a satellite communication center in Cairo one day earlier.
In a video statement, the self-styled Al-Furqan Brigades described the attack as part of a battle against "infidels" trying to "uproot Islam from Egypt".
Unidentified militants fired a rocket-propelled grenade at Egypt's main satellite transmission station, located in southern Cairo, on Monday.
The attack, the first ever against the satellite communications facility, did not cause any serious damage.
The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified and Egyptian authorities could not be reached for comment.
The group had previously claimed an attack on a passing ship in Suez Canal, an international waterway, last month.Last Mod: 09 Ekim 2013, 09:22
