Desperate Americans watching the election results may have to wait until Wednesday to research a possible move to Canada, as the website is having server errors.

While some on Twitter linked the crash to election night results, others joked that Canada may have shut the site down on purpose.

Social media has been abuzz Tuesday night with users expressing shock at Trump's wins in battleground states like Ohio, Florida and North Carolina, leading to an increase in suggestions that Americans abandon their country. Photos of tearful Clinton supporters and gifs of people using brown paper bags to avoid hyperventilating were prevalent.

As of 11 p.m. central, the Associated Press had Trump leading Clinton 238-209.

Moving to Canada has been a popular joke throughout the election season, as has the suggestion that Texas should secede from the union if Clinton wins. Some Twitter users had also suggested abandoning Florida after that state went red on election night.
