A police officer in charge of controlling riots in the US town of Ferguson, Missouri, has been relieved from his patrol duties after a video emerged of him making a racist rant during a club for veterans in April.
Officer Dan Page of the St. Louis County Police Department was filmed describing black people as “little perverts” and US leader Barack Obama as “that illegal alien claiming to be president.”
In the video that was posted on YouTube, Page also insulted Muslims during an hour-long speech at the St. Louis chapter of the Oath Keepers.
Boasting of previous killings in the past, the former serviceman was taped saying “I'm also a killer. I've killed a lot, and if I need to I'll kill a whole bunch more. If you don't want to get killed, don't show up in front of me. I’m into diversity – I kill everybody.”
Page, who also threatened to arrest CNN journalist Don Lemon while he was reporting live from protests in Ferguson, then went on to call black people “little perverts” while holding a copy of the Bible and implied that Muslims were murderers.
Page is the second officer to be suspended by the St. Louis County Police Department in three days, after another policeman was disciplined for pointing a gun at a peaceful protester and yelling obscenities.
The Oath Keepers’ St Louis chapter also disowned Page, telling CNN that he was a guest speaker and not an actual member. They also said the statements made by Page do not reflect the opinions of their local Oath Keeper Chapter, nor the national organization.
