It has been revealed that NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden used a very simple and common crawler software to extract highly classified files.

Although the unusual activity had been spotted by officials, Snowden reassured them that all was normal as he continued to mine the data from about 1.7 million documents, an unnamed official told the Times.

The surprisingly unsophisticated method used by Snowden to extract files will likely spark criticism of US web security especially after Bradley Manning used a similar approach to leak information to WikiLeaks just three years earlier.
