The alleged killer of 49 victims at a gay nightclub in Florida earlier this year was hit by eight bullets during a shootout with police, according to an autopsy report revealed Friday.
The Orlando medical examiner's report, cited in U.S. media reports, showed Omar Mateen, 29, sustained gunshot wounds to his head, neck, chest, abdomen, calf and foot.
No drugs or alcohol were found in Mateen's body but his urine had abnormally high levels of a compound associated with the consumption of a bodybuilding supplement. The report added that his testosterone range was normal.
The medical examiner's office also published autopsy reports on some of the victims and said it would reveal more next week.
On the night of June 12, Mateen unleashed a carnage at the Pulse nightclub, pledging allegiance to the Daesh terrorist group in a 911 call before being killed in a police operation.
The shooting spree is considered one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.
