The US State Department welcomed the outcome of the referendum and called on the Assembly to support the full implementation of the Prespa agreement in the Assembly.

"The US welcomes the outcome of the September 30th referendum in Macedonia, where citizens expressed support for NATO and EU membership with the acceptance of the Prespa agreement between Macedonia and Greece. The US strongly supports the full implementation of the Prespa Accord, which will enable the deserved place in NATO and the EU and contribute to regional stability, security, and prosperity. Now that the Macedonian Parliament will debate the constitutional changes, we call on leaders to stand up for party politics and not leave this historic opportunity to provide a brighter future for the country as an equal member country in international institutions ".
