Fourteen coal miners in eastern China are trapped after the pit they were working in flooded on Thursday, state press reported.
Fifteen people were working underground when the small Zhayi mine, in Jiangxi province, flooded at 4:50 am (2050 GMT), with only one of the men able to escape, Xinhua news agency said, adding rescue efforts had begun.
China's coal mines are the most dangerous in the world and fatal accidents happen almost every day.
More than 4,700 workers were killed last year, according to official figures, although independent labour groups put the real death toll at up to 20,000 annually, with many accidents covered-up.
