The newest Palestinian to join the ranks of the Arab world's best writers is only 14-years-old.
Yasmin Shamlawi from the northern west bank city of Nablus is a poet and writer. She was selected this week by an internet forum "Word and Tool" to join their list of the best one thousand Arab writers.
The director of the forum, renowned Egyptian author Muhammad Mahfouz, wrote to Shamlawi informing her she was selected for the list. He applauded her abilities and writing style and called on Arab officials to take care of her unique talents.
According to the Palestinian Writers Syndicate, Shamlawi is the youngest professional writer in Palestine, reported Ma'an news agency.
The young girl has written several short stories, and conducted a number of studies, the most famous of which was about the situation of Palestinian children. She presented her study on Palestinian television in 2007.
When asked why she writes and what her inspiration is, Shamlawi explained that her work is part of her national duties towards the Palestinian question. She applauded all those who supported her, especially her father and her family.
