Turkey's Statistical Board (TUIK) announced on Friday that 5,674 newspapers and magazines were in circulation in Turkey in 2007.
58.5 of these publications were actually periodical magazines.
While 91.6 p.c. of the newspapers were "local newspapers", 2.5 p.c. of the newspapers printed were "regional newspapers".
5.9 p.c. of all newspapers published were "national newspapers".
The total circulation rate of newspapers and magazines in Turkey in 2007 was 2.470 billion.
29.2 p.c. of all employed by Turkish newspapers and magazines in 2007 were women.
As of November, 2007, the written media in Turkey employed 53,044 people. 40.5 p.c. of people employed were the employees of newspapers.
