A 6.9-magnitude aftershock struck off the coast of Chile early on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
It was the largest of several aftershocks to hit the south-central region since an 8.8-magnitude quake thundered across the coastline near the city of Concepcion hours earlier.
The 6.9-aftershock was located 130 miles (210 km) west-southwest of Concepcion and had a depth of 24 miles (39 km).
Another aftershock of 5.5-magnitude struck 28 miles/45 km off the coast of Valparaiso, a large coastal city that lies 52 miles (84 km) west of the capital of Santiago.
