A car bomb has killed at least 75 people and wounded dozens of others near a Shia mosque in a busy commercial district in central Baghdad, Iraqi police said.
The wall surrounding the mosque was knocked down by the blast and part of the main structure was destroyed. Several cars also caught on fire.
The explosion, which occurred around 2pm (11:00 GMT), sent smoke billowing over concrete buildings and rattled windows across the centre of the city.
Gunfire also erupted moments after the blast, which a police officer said went off near the Khillani mosque in the commercial area of Sinak.
The attacks follows a relatively quiet period in the capital after a curfew was imposed for four days last week in the wake of an attack on al-Askariya mosque in Samarra, north of Baghdad.
