The Palestinian Authority raised objections to the final communique of a Mediterranean Union summit on Sunday after it had already been distributed by the French hosts, a Palestinian official said.
The official said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was demanding that a paragraph referring to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict be removed, but a French official said Abbas had given his agreement to the text as issued.
The disputed paragraph said: "Heads of State and Government reaffirm their support for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, as referred to in the Lisbon Euro-Med ministerial meeting (November 2007) and according to the Annapolis process." It made no direct reference to a two-state solution.
