A roadside blast killed four soldiers from the NATO-led force in Afghanistan's southern province of Helmand, the alliance said on Wednesday.
Britain's Ministry of Defence said the four were British. They died on Tuesday when the blast struck their vehicle as they passed by.
The four, one Intelligence Corps soldier and three other soldiers, were taking part in an operation east of Lashkar Gah in Helmand, the defence ministry said.
A fifth soldier wounded in the blast was in stable condition, it added.
The alliance, in a statement, said two soldiers were also wounded in the blast, but gave no details.
The deaths follow those of five members of the Parachute Regiment last week and bring the death toll of British personnel in Afghanistan to 106 since 2001, the ministry said.
