Angola says two Togo attack suspects arrested

Angolan authorities have arrested two people on suspicion of taking part in an attack on a bus carrying the Togo national soccer team to the African Nations Cup in which two members of the delegation were killed.

Angolan prosecutor Antonio Nito said in a statement the two people arrested "belonged" to the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC), a separatist movement that has waged a more than three-decade long war against the Angolan government.

"The two elements of FLEC were captured at the scene of the incident, the road to Massabi that connects both countries (Angola and Congo)," he said in a statement published on state-owned news agency Angop.

The Togo team bus was ambushed by gunmen shortly after crossing from the Republic of Congo into Cabinda, which is geographically separate from the rest of Angola. The insurgents sprayed the bus with bullets for several minutes, according to some Togo players.

The Togolese squad arrived home in Togo on Sunday after their government told them to leave Angola.
