An Arab civil liberties group called on the Arab community in Israel to boycott national carrier El Al, to protest against the humiliation of Arab fliers in the name of security.
"These annoying and humiliating checks on Arab passangers are an intolerable form of discrimination," said Amin Makhul, head of the Arab follow-up committee defending the rights of Arab Israelis.
"We are not against security screenings, but Arab passengers are automatically treated as suspects and, too often, subject to serious political questioning and have their laptops confiscated," he added.
Passengers flying out of Israel's Ben Gurion airport are screened by security officers, and El Al travelers flying into the country are questioned by airline employees.
