Arab writers formed an Arab bureau to combat the normalization of cultural, educational and intellectual ties with Israel that still occupies Palestinian land for decades.

The chairman of the Arab Writers Union (AWU) Hussein Jumaa headed the meeting of the founding committee in Syrian capital, attended by representatives of Syrian, Palestinian, and Lebanese cultural, intellectual, art, educational, media, and legal bodies, Kuwaiti news agency reported.

AWU will open and head the new office that will be transferred to a public authority, the report said.

The bureau announced that it will be holding a number of activities starting from January 24 with a four-day seminar on the Israeli siege on Gaza.
