At least 30 people were killed when three vehicles burst into flames after colliding on a road in southern Nigeria, police and local press said Monday.
"Around 30 bodies were removed from the scene of the accident. The bodies were burnt beyond recognition," a senior police office told AFP by telephone.
He said the accident occurred on Elele-Port Harcourt road Sunday evening.
"The three buses burst into flames because of the impact of the crash", he said.
He said those injured in the accident had been taken to nearby hospitals.
This Day newspaper said at least 50 people died in the crash.
Accidents occur regularly on Nigeria's poorly maintained inter-city roads.
