Balkan Chiefs: Regional cooperation important
Balkan Chiefs of Defense (CHODs) underlined Monday the importance of regional military cooperation at the second meeting of the Balkan CHODs conference in Antalya.

A press release stressing the CHODs strong will to further enhance military cooperation among Balkan States in order to meet the regional security challenges, was issued at the closing of the conference.

The second meeting underlined the importance of military cooperation on regional basis and good neighbourly relations and reiterated the solidarity and commitments stated in the first meeting in Athens.

The CHODs emphasized the importance of the conference as a regional body for further developing the cooperation among nations and expressed their confidence that the establishment of a Coordination Group and two sub-working groups have provided the required mechanisms for the continuation of the conference.

CHODs have also approved a number of joint military activities to be conducted in the following years, in the fields of common training, education and exercises.

The next meeting will be held in Serbia in 2009.
