During a visit to Sulaimaniya that began on Wednesday, DTP parliamentary group chairman Ahmet Türk was accompanied by DTP deputies Sebahat Tuncel and Hasip Kaplan as well as Kamuran Yüksek, the deputy co-chairman of the DTP, who urged Iraqi President Jalal Talabani to play an active role in the solution of the Kurdish issue in Turkey.

A visit with Barzani was originally scheduled for April 27-28, but the DTP delegation was unable to attend. A new appointment with Barzani could not be secured, Iraqi Kurdish officials said.

DTP currently faces a closure case in the Constitutional Court on charges of being "a focal point of terrorism." Türk said yesterday that if his party is shut down by the court, it will continue to work for the rights of Kurds, adding that problems could be resolved through dialogue. The DTP delegation is expected to return to Turkey today.
