The death toll from a collapsed apartment block in eastern Belgium rose to nine on Thursday and was expected to increase when the stalled search resumes later in the day.
A suspected gas leak blew up the block of flats early on Wednesday in a street in the centre of the eastern city of Liege, damaging adjoining buildings and shattering windows.
Firefighters suspended rescue efforts because of fears other buildings could collapse.
"There are certainly other people buried," a Liege city spokesman said.
The collapse injured 21 people, three of them seriously. One girl was pulled out alive from the rubble early on Wednesday afternoon.
