Bishop 'urges faithful to call God Allah'
A senior Catholic churchman from the southern Dutch diocese of Breda is urging believers from all religions to call God 'Allah', arguing the use of the Arabic name for Him will foster interfaith understanding, Radio Netherlands reports.

Outgoing Roman Catholic bishop of Breda Tiny Muskens claims God does not mind what he is called.

The bishop, who is retiring in a few weeks, admits he does not anticipate his ideas will find acceptance any time soon.

He has previously defied the Vatican by calling for the acceptance of married priests and the use of condoms to combat AIDS, Radio Netherlands said.

Muskens has also said that it is acceptable for the poor to steal bread.

Yaa brother yunus (commentator) when i read this article, my eyes watered and i asked hidayah from Allah...Allah Gafour urrRaheem..how do you know what is in his heart? Only Allah SWT knows...and Islam is tolerance...stop the ignorance...Allah is the Only One Who Judges and Knows whats in the hearts of his slaves...at the end Allah is the One who will give hidayah to whomever He wishes... :)

The man's ideas are beyond his time.
BUT, WHY NOT CALL GOD 'ATEN,' or YAWEH' or, as instructed to Moses,
'I AM WHO AM' ???????
The Bishop has obviously studied (or has arrived himself upon the same truth, however serendipitously, upon) the work of Joseph Campbell. And I do not entirely disagree with him.
His point resounds truth - his delivery and timing are in poor taste.
Why not have our Nazi-cooperative pope, Ratzi, done what has needed to be done with this wayward prelate?
RETIREMENT!
The Bishop is not helping to heal the wounds of an injured world -
perhaps he has taken his lessons from Benedict XVI!
