The fire which broke out after an explosion at Refahiye part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline on Tuesday night, is still continuing.
Officials said on Wednesday that the explosion took place at one of the pumps of the pipeline and it continued as there was still oil inside the pump.
"The cooling efforts are under way. The fire may continue until the oil inside the pump runs out. However, the region is totally under control," officials also said.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, however, it would become clear after a technical examination by experts, officials said.
On the other hand, authorities said that the flow of natural gas along a nearby pipeline, which had been suspended due to the fire at the crude oil pipeline, resumed.
Officials cut the oil flow as fire broke out after the blast.
