British Prime Minister Gordon Brown asked the Sudanese government on Tuesday to accept a UN-African Union peacekeeping force in Darfur or face "further sanctions.
"Brown urged the UN Security Council to adopt a draft resolution that will dispatch more than 20,000 international and African troops.
"I am not prepared to let it continue without action, and today is decicion day for the United Nations," Brown told reporters following talks with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at UN headquarters after a visit to the White House on Monday.
Brown said "further sanctions" will be imposed unless the joint peacekeeping operation is allowed to be deployed in Darfur where more than 300,000 have been killed since 2003.
