Smith will meet with Turkish ministers and discuss the subjects of "migration, serious organized crimes, counter-terrorism and radicalism" and the purpose of her visit is to further cement the strong relationships between the two countries, the statement said.
Smith will also speak to an audience of around 50 influential Turkish women at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, on the role they can play in "promoting tolerance and countering radicalization."
The UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith will "encourage" Turkish women to take active leadership roles in their communities to help "counter radicalization and prevent extremism," the statement said.
