Bush to make speech on Middle East peace
U.S. President George W. Bush will make a speech on Monday to renew his commitment to the Middle East peace process and announce new aid to help Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, senior government officials said Sunday.

U.S. media quoted an unidentified official as saying that Bush would announce aid in addition to the 86 million dollars that the White House has already requested from Congress. That money was to help provide security for Abbas.

The announcement of the scheduled speech by Bush comes when the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia are to meet on the Middle East peace process in the Portuguese capital Lisbon on Thursday.
