Candidates should be at 30 in Turkish general elections
"Those who are 25 years old cannot run in the upcoming general elections (scheduled for July 22nd) under the existing laws," Higher Election Board (YSK) chairman Muammer Aydin said on Monday.

Currently candidates must be at least 30 years old to run in the elections.

Asked whether the law lowering the age threshold for lawmakers to 25 will be applied in the general elections on July 22nd, Aydin said, "YSK ruled that the eligibility age of 25 is not applicable in the upcoming general elections, under the existing laws. For that a constitutional arrangement is necessary."

Upon another question, Aydin said, "names and logos of 21 political parties will take place on the ballot papers."
