Turkey's Labor & Social Security Minister Faruk Celik held talks with Maria Bohmer, the German commissioner for migration, refugees and integration, in the German capital of Berlin on Monday.
Speaking to Turkish reporters after the meeting, Celik said that a report on integration issue was recently published in Germany, based on the situation in the country in 2005.
Celik said that certain parts of such report were presented by the German media as if the "Turkish community in Germany could not integrate with the German society properly".
"We appreciate the measures taken by Germany on the integration issue since 2005. However, we have expressed during our talks that we did not appreciate the statements made regarding Turkey based on such report," he said.
Noting that the Turkish people living in Germany achieved remarkable success in various fields such as politics, art and trade, Celik said the current deficiencies should be remedied in dialogue with the Turkish community.
"Turkish community is now a major element of the German society. If the issue is handled from this point of view, I believe the problems can be solved in a much more realistic way," he said.
