U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to meet Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov in Geneva on March 6, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said on Friday.
The State Department did not confirm the meeting with Lavrov. But Solana told reporters Clinton would meet the Russian in Geneva after a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.
The meeting is a sign of a thaw in ties between the United States and Russia and follows a promise last weekend by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden that the Obama administration planned to hit the "reset button" in its relations with the former Cold War foe.
