"In a telephone call with the Ukrainian president, Czech PM informed us of his trip to Ukraine on Jan. 9," Yushchenko's press service said.
Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek will travel to Kiev on Friday, the press service of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said.
"In a telephone call with the Ukrainian president, the head of the Czech government informed us of his trip to Ukraine on Jan. 9," Yushchenko's press service said in a statement.
"Yushchenko informed the Czech PM that Ukraine is ready to accept monitors for the transit of gas from Russia through Ukrainian territory in accordance with the agreements made with the European Union," it said.
A Czech EU presidency source in Prague said earlier Topolanek would travel to Kiev to discuss a deal allowing international observers to monitor gas flows from Russia.
