Czech News Agency reported the Czech Republic has opened its embassy in Kosovo that will be headed by charge d'affaires Janina Hrebickova, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Opletalova said Wednesday.
"Kosovo draws our development aid. Besides, as we have over 500 troops deployed there, it is very important for us," Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg said.
By 2011, the Czech Republic will support Kosovo with four million euros. Czech troops are there within the KFOR mission.
Kosovo declared independence in February. More than 40 countries, including the Turkey have recognised it.
