Economic openness may speed up recovery for very large non-African developing countries including Turkey, International Monetary Fund (IMF) analysts said in a report.

"We conjecture that openness may be correlated with economic size of the country, but the link between greater trade openness and sluggish recovery strengthens when we control for economic size," the report said.

"However, we now find that trade openness may speed up recovery for very large : IMF analystson-African developing countries," it said.

These countries include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, China, Brazil, Russia, Poland, South Korea, India and Mexico.

The report said Turkey was affected by the economic crisis, but it showed resistance and flexibility thanks to economic reforms made in Turkey over the past few years.
