EIB gives €150 mln-loan to Turkey for energy projects

European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided a loan of 150 million euro to Turkish Development Bank (TKB) for energy projects.

A statement by the TKB said on Friday that the agreement on a loan of 718 million euro provided by the EIB to Turkey was signed in Luxembourg on December 10, 2009 and the loan would be used for rail transport, electricity distribution as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy in Turkey.

The bank said that 300 million euro of this loan to Turkish Industrial Development Bank (TSKB) and to TKB was in the form of a framework loan in favour of small to medium-sized investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency and pollution abatement.

TKB which supported renewable energy investments has assigned 769.6 million Turkish lira of energy loans so far. (One euro equals to 2.2 Turkish lira)
