Eight of the 23 South Koreans kidnapped in Afghanistan have been freed, according to media reports Wednesday.
The South Koreans have been brought to a safe place, the South Korean press agency Yonhap reported citing government officials in Seoul.
The government was reported to have paid a ransom to secure the hostages' release.
The 23 South Korean Christian aid workers were abducted by the Taliban last Thursday.
