"We will be continuing on our path with a new enthusiasm and a new dynamism and with new blood that we have brought in besides the old ones. We have formed a strong team," Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.

Holding a news conference after his meeting with President Abdullah Gul during which he submitted the list of the new cabinet members, Prime Minister Erdogan said, "I was designated to form the new government on August 6th. Since that day, I have held a series of consultations and assessments to choose the new cabinet members. These people have the necessary competence and capability to reach the targets we set for Turkey in the coming period."

"We made a number of reforms for economic development and democratization in the last 4 years and 9 months. We have an ideal of a free and prosperous Turkey in the new period. I believe that freedom and welfare are indispensable elements. Freedom paves the way for more welfare, and welfare leads to more freedom. We will work for more freedoms and for more economic welfare," he stressed.

Erdogan told reporters that they will give priority to safeguard the current atmosphere of confidence and stability.

"We have formed a strong team. I believe that we can overcome all problems with our unity and solidarity. I hope we have a brilliant future," Erdogan added.

"Changes will be made in some ministries, their field of responsibility, and related and affiliate institutions," Erdogan said.

Erdogan said Environment & Forestry Ministry, Energy & Natural Resources Ministry, and Public Works & Housing Ministry would be in this scope.

"We are planning to include Directorate General of Highways to Transportation Ministry and unite Disaster Affairs unit and Urgent Affairs unit, which act separately under Public Works & Housing Ministry under one roof," Erdogan said, adding that, "we are also planning environment, city planning and water issues together. A more active ministry will be formed where global warming and its impacts would be dealt in a different way."

Erdogan said State Water Works (DSI) would not work under the authority of Energy & Natural Resources Ministry.

Asked if President Gul opposed any name in the new cabinet, Erdogan said, "Mr. President already knows all the friends in the cabinet. No problem is in question."

Erdogan said he would read out the government program in the Parliament on Friday and a vote of confidence would take place next Wednesday.
