Erdogan: Peres must learn how to talk to a Turkey's PM

In response to a question posed by a BBC correspondent after a press conference following the panel discussion which he left, Erdogan said that "Peres was not talking to a clan leader. Peres must learn how to talk to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey".

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at a panel discussion titled "Gaza: The Case for Middle East Peace" as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.

"Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, conducts negotiations with only one side, Al-Fatah, at the table. Hamas, as a party that won elections in Palestine, must be invited to the negotiation table," Erdogan said during the debate.

If Turkey has a task in this geography, we will do what is necessary, Erdogan said.

"We must determine the sides well here. No result could be achieved by only taking into consideration Al-Fatah and leaving others out of the process," Erdogan said.

"It makes no difference for me when a person is facing cruelty whether he is Christian, Jew, or Muslim. What is important for me is humanity," Erdogan stressed.

"I ask you all. Does Gaza have a fraction of the weapons of mass destruction that Israel possesses? Do the Palestinians have weapons as much as Israel?" Erdogan said.

"The situation in Gaza cannot be resolved with billions of dollars. Gaza has collapsed over its people that have no economic means to develop," Erdogan said.

Those who are responsible for the status quo are those who have not given Hamas democratic rights after having won the elections, Erdogan said.

Peace in the Middle East is a must for global peace, Erdogan also said.

After Erdogan walked out of the debate, Israeli President Shimon Peres telephoned and apologized from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan after Thursday's debate over Gaza at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

I fully agree with PM Erdogan on this case. Mr. Peres talked to Erdogan with a very high tone and with no respect. I also think that it is disrespectful by the hosts to interrupt Erdogan while he is speaking. Erdogans arguments on the war in Gaze are very true, hundred of inecent people are dying in Gaza and for what reason? Like Erdogan said "In the Old Testament, 6th sentence it says "Do not kill people!. Here what you did is killing."
I wish Erdogan all the best in the future he is a great leader and I hope other PM's look up to him.

He is a real LIDER! He did something that will be remembered long time. Not because he walked away, but cos he showed to be a nation leading man and not a cheap politician. All the support to his speech and reaction!
