Eroglu meets Iraqi minister Rashid in Ankara
Rashid said he wanted the two countries' ministries to carry out talks and to cooperate on issues related to water in a 'positive way'.
Turkish Environment and Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu said Saturday Turkey desired to establish a continuous cooperation with Iraq in areas such as economy, military and environment.
Eroglu held talks with Iraqi Water Resources Minister Latif Rashid in capital Ankara.
During the meeting, Rashid said he wanted the two countries' ministries to carry out talks and to cooperate on issues related to water in a positive way.
Rashid said technical delegations from Turkey, Iraq and Syria would gather soon and discuss new technologies regarding water issue.
Meanwhile, Eroglu said a meeting would be held in April with the participation of 15 experts and 3 academicians from each of these 3 countries.
The participants will discuss how to develop and implement modern irrigation systems during the meeting, he said.
Eroglu added that his ministry was ready to support Iraqi officials on issues such as construction of dams and the two countries could cooperate on matters related to environment, forestry and meteorology.
