Ethiopian FM says wants to see more Turkish investments
The Turkish transportation minister met the Ethiopian foreign minister on Monday.
Turkey's Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim had a meeting with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin, who is visiting the Turkish capital of Ankara, at a working dinner.
"Trade volume between Ethiopia and Turkey which was 28 million USD in 2000, was up by seven-folds and reached 200 million USD in 2008," Yildirim told reporters before the dinner.
Yildirim said that the current figures were away from reflecting the real potential.
The Turkish minister said Turkey saw Ethiopia as an element of stability in its region, and Turkey's Embassy in Addis Ababa was the first Turkish embassy opened in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Yildirim hoped that this visit would boost bilateral relations.
Also speaking before the dinner, Mesfin said that his country would like to see more Turkish investments and welcomed direct flights of the Turkish Airlines to Ethiopia.
