A Turkish state minister said on Wednesday that the European Investment Bank would open branch offices in Turkey.
State Minister Mehmet Simsek attended a ground-breaking ceremony held in Ankara for 61 hydroelectrical power plants to be built by State Hydraulic Works and private sector.
Speaking at the ceremony, Simsek said that the European Investment Bank was getting prepared to open 2 branch offices in Turkey.
"In the next couple of years, the bank will provide a remarkable fund for Turkey, reaching 8 billion euros. It will be followed by other banks shortly. These are long-term and cheap financing resources for the country," Simsek said.
Simsek also said that officials were carrying out activities in an effort to encourage other investment banks to take a more active role in the Turkish market.
