EU picks Istanbul for intercultural language training project
Council of Europe will carry out a pilot project in Istanbul next month to develop international youth cooperation through intercultural language training.

30 young people from Turkey and other European countries will participate in the project. European participants will receive training on Turkish language and culture in Istanbul from August 17th to 31st. The project will also help Turkish participants to improve their English.

Officials of the Council of Europe said that the project aims at contributing to intercultural dialogue, as well as improving young people's knowledge about history, politics, geography, religion and daily life of other countries.

Istanbul was selected as the host city for this pilot project due to its role as a bridge for religion and intercultural dialogue, officials said.
