France that holds the rotating EU Presidency offered on Friday condolences to Turkey following the dormitory collapse that killed at least 16 and injured 27 in central Turkey early Friday.

French Embassy in Ankara said in a statement that France sent condolence letters to Turkish officials on behalf of the European Union.

A dormitory for girl students collapsed in Konya's Taskent town early this morning after an explosion, killing 17 and injuring 27 people. The cause of the explosion is immediately not known.
