Former Iraqi Prime Minister & Iraqi National Accord leader Ayad Allawi said on Friday that the Middle East was closely following the wise leadership of Turkey.
Turkey is considered as a pushing force for modernization, stability and progress, added Allawi who held a press conference after his talks in Ankara.
Allawi said that he held constructive and beneficial meetings with Turkish officials, and conveyed his uneasiness about the atmosphere prior to the upcoming elections in Iraq. He added that they wanted a free and transparent election milieu.
Allawi added that they also took up regional stability and prosperity in the Middle East.
He said that Turkey, Iraq and several other regional countries should act together for modernization.
Earlier in the day, Allawi held meetings with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
