Exports increase in southeastern Turkey

Southeastern Anatolia Exporters' Association: "Textile products worth 1.1 bln USD, cereals worth 380 mln USD, livestock and water products of 2.3 mln USD."

Exports increase in southeastern Turkey
Exports from the southeastern Anatolia rose by 46 percent to 1.7 billion USD in the first quarter of 2008 when compared to the same period of last year, exporters' associations said on Wednesday.

Executives from Southeastern Anatolia Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent that they exported textile products worth 1.1 billion USD, cereals worth 380 million USD, livestock and water products of 2.3 million USD and dried fruits worth 89.3 million in the first six months of 2008.

Exports from the southern province of Antalya to 79 countries amounted to 322.6 million USD in the same period.

Textile exports from Antalya increased by 20 percent to 59.2 million USD and exports of fresh fruits and vegetables rose by 22 percent to 236.2 million USD between January and June 2008 when compared to the same period last year.
