The first passenger train coming from Iraqi province of Mosul has arrived in Turkish province of Gaziantep at 0830 hours on Wednesday.
The train was welcomed to the Gaziantep Train Station with a ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director General of Turkish Railways (TCDD) Suleyman Karaman said that, after a period of 100 years, the railways connecting Gaziantep to Syria and Iraq have been renovated.
To date, the majority of the railways have been renovated and we have spent 70 million USD, Karaman said.
We are about to complete the renovation of railways between Aleppo and Gaziantep, Karaman underlined.
In the very near future, Turkey will be the sixth biggest owner of railways in Europe and the eighth biggest in the globe, Karaman stressed.
